I've had way better luck with a sweep followed by a shovel directly behind it. I don't like that it leaves furrows in the field but if I need to cultivate, then attempting to cover the ones up in the plant row sure looks better then merely sweeping out the middles. I don't cultivate unless I need to. We still have this sweep/shovel bar from back in the days we used to flood irrigate. After harvest you definitely have to till the field to smooth it back out.
