Subject: RE: Help understanding low rates

west central MN

The US has actually seen very low inflation rates for the last 10 years and that is why interest rates are low. Here is a link to what the US inflation rates have been over time, http://www.multpl.com/inflation/table    The inflation has been high for us as farmers because of the profits we made from 2007 through 2012. We where making money so all of our suppliers raised their prices. Our inputs have been slowly coming down but it does take time. I spent a fair amount less on fertilize and a little less on seed this year and the cost of used machinery is down for sure and also land prices in our area are lower. I would not worry about inflation because the interest rates are low.

If you want to see high inflation rates go back and see what inflation was from 1975 through 1985. That is why we had high interest rates to help slow down inflation and now we have low interest rates to help give us a little inflation.
