North Central Iowa | If they look like mine did last year, then yes, replace them. Each year it seemed like I was going slower and slower in soybeans and 2 years ago it was getting ridiculous. Never really occurred to me to look at the rasp bars until I came across some comments on this site on how new rasp bars can make it seem like you got a new combine. It's true.
For better or worse, I put on a set from Shoup, non-chromed versions (and with one season, much better). Between reading comments on this site and talking with several neighbors (2 of which do equipment repairs & farm, used to be mechanics with local Deere dealers), didn't get enough strong opinions to spend the extra money.
These rasp bars in the picture might be original equipment. Taken out of a 1992 JD9500 with 2300 separator hours. Dad is pretty sure he never replaced them and he got the combine used in the late 90's.
