Have you replaced the gauge? Otherwise a low water level in well or pinhole in well pipe. Yes a pinhole can lose prime but not always. I suspect your foot valve/jet at bottom of well if you have two pipes going down well. With two pipe system a pinhole won't suck air as it's under pressure all the time. Only a single pipe shallow well will create suction on the pipe.
