Tried some clutch dogs on my drill the other day. It didn't work. Cast iron parts are not as easy to weld up. I should have used brazing.
I would grease those spines before assembly. Probably last a long time. Have never had trouble with ours yet. Have replaced the bearings in the tilt steering column of our JD 5320 a couple times now.
Anybody else go to these extremes to save money on parts?
