Subject: RE: Planter with active down force?

East Central Ia
We have a 60' planter with active pneumatic down pressure and in our variable soils it's next to worthless unless ground conditions are perfect.

We have run it 5 seasons and have turned it off and run the pressure manually based off the ground pressure sensors since the second year. We have tried it on automatic numerous times a season since and just don't like how slow it is.

Ours has five sensors for 36 rows and that's not NEARLY enough.

Trying to read five sensors and average them to adjust a 60' planter just isn't the best way to do it... Especially with the technology available now.

We will convert ours to hydraulic when the funds are available and put at least a sensor on every other row if not every row.
