I was involved years back of a study where we tried to maximum forage production with only have a drill a tractor and rotational grazing.
Sudan and cowpeas in the spring summer followed by cereal rye and Austrian winter peas and radishes or turnips with a fescue or native prairie grass seemed to work well.
