| i read about the gear driven water pumps on 13.5 liter (and some others) engines losing the bearings. The balls fall out and trash the timing gear train. Supposedly the newer pumps are built different and the balls can't get out if they fail. So if I have the old one I should replace it but if I have the newer one I can just run it if it's not leaking. How do I know which I have without taking it out to inspect?
Also the guys over on the combine forum seem to think 70 series combines had poor design fan hub bearing setup. Opinions?? Working on bearings before you buy a radiator instead of after seems like a good idea. | |
