| Check to see if the compressor is turning when it starts to go on the fritz. If it is turning then check the temperature of the return line with your hand to see if it is cool.
If warm then it sounds like there is moisture in the system.
If cool/cold, then it is most likely an air-flow problem causing the evaporator to become iced over, but could be other things as well.
Any questions ask away. Most likely, you will eventually need to hook up a set of gauges to isolate the problem. Currently, I am thinking you have moisture in the system. That fix requires replacing drier receiver, evacuating the system, and recharging...replacing the expansion valve when you are that far into it would be a wise decision because it could be the culprit as well.
