West Central IA | I had a customer back in my parts sales days that had a 407 irrigation engine that had partially sheared the key on the camshaft. It would run, but eventually would eat its cookies. The tip off to me is the cracked liner. If fuel shoots across the top of the piston, hits the cylinder wall and detonated between the piston & liner it will crack the liner. Where was the liner cracked? Tell us more and pictures off failed parts are always cool to look at. Your cam timing could now be off, but inj. pump timing correct now that you have reworked it. I used to sell a lot of parts for these, have worked on them and own them. With the hours you have on this unit, damper pulley should have been replaced, or should be replaced. There is an IH service bulletin addressing this issue. Seams if damper gets bad, sends shock to camshaft and will shear key, wear out gears or worse break camshaft. | |
