However, we chose bulls based on type, milk, and I kept an eye on DPR. We had a rolling herd average of 25,000, sold a few high priced cows, and won the PBR award from Holstein year after year. At one point last spring a fourth of our herd was over 180,000 lifetime. I thought DPR was the most important health trait because if a cow doesn't breed back then the rest doesn't matter.
