Seed industry is a joke. Price what the market will bear is the current model. It's a joke. Give me a good product and a fair price. I don't need hats and rain gauges and vacations. I need a product at a price i can make a profit. I don't need an agronomist except if there is a seed issue, I don't need a guy to set my planner, pick my chemical program, or market my grain. 95% of field problems are created by the guy planting the field, not the seed. I want my seed at 10% of cost of production, not the absolute most we can suckered a guy into.

If the seed companies were to sell corn at 10% cost of production then there would no way to produce leading hybrids and genetics with sophisticated research. The amount of money that goes into research and development of seed to make the producer more successful is astronomical. I am not saying the way it is priced now is right but they cant sell it at wholesale and expect to take the bill for R&D for leader products.
