Death comes to us all. Life's but a walking shadow | I think that the USDA just did corn farmers a big favor by making them think twice about planting so much corn. At 88 million acres we have $3.60 corn. 93.6 million acres is 5.6 million more, with even a mediocre harvest it would be a disaster. Even 90 million is too much.
However, it does remain to be seen whether producers can take the hint.
Meanwhile, new crop beans closed at $9.32 today which is just about the best price since mid-Aug. last year. I've sold a few beans just before the report and would have sold a few more today if I hadn't been busy. Granted $9.30 isn't $10 but in year with such poor prospects so far I tend to think we've been handed a little gift.
