You always have to start out in first gear on these tractors. So you come up to a stop sign and to take off it automatically starts you out in first. Takes a bit to get thru the intersection. All in all they are tough tractors, and for me the transmission is not even close to a deal breaker. We had a 9300 at work that the transmission went out on and a reman was (if my memory is correct) 20k ish. Definitely check out the gudgeon bearing. The tractor at work was used to pull lime spreaders all its life so it didn't have the easiest life...
