SW WI | I have a White 8000 series planter that on the last day of planting last year, the monitor cable got pinched in the hitch. I made an in the field MacGyver move as you can see in the first pic.
So how would you go about fixing this? My thought is I might have enough cable to cut off the damaged part and rewire the plug. Has anyone done this? Seems pretty straight forward but anything I should know?
I was hoping that this cable would just be a replaceable length. It seems like it goes into a round (junction box) type of deal. Pic 3. From there it has individual cables to each row. So that is not an easy option to replace.
This is a pretty low tech planter. No variable rate or row clutches. Just using the factory 4000 series monitor. I called the implement to get some ideas and they wanted to send a service guy out and have it hooked to the planter tractor. I'm busy with that tractor, it will be hooked up soon but I just feel I should be able to do this myself.
