Subject: RE: Help identify a gear reducer

Lenawee Co Michigan
I had one of that vintage on an elevator leg. The bearings and seals are common parts, but the internal gearing/shafting is made for the unit only. Due to age, no factory parts were available. It was cheaper to buy a whole new unit than to try and make the custom parts.

Look on eBay, there are many NOS reduction boxes at good prices. I bought an 8-year-old unused Browning reducer for a third of list price. Factory surplus or closing.
