I'm somewhat familiar with back-up rings. I'm pretty sure it is not a back-up ring but not sure enough to say definitively. I guess I should have mentioned that this gasket is the only thing in there. There is NOT an o-ring in there. It kinda looks like cork but feels rubbery???
