Pieces of pod much longer than the slot will sooner or later cause problems. If I remember correctly the slot is 1 1/2 times the size of the seed or about 1/2"? Anything larger than 1'2" to 5/8" will eventually be troublesome.
I always found with a Crustbuster it would chew through more than some but they didn't like a lot of trash either.
