northern IL | Grinding hay today when I started smelling smoke , but I didn't see any so I shut it down and pulled it up to the water hydrant just in case . There was a half a bale in there so we tried to get it out with the pallet forks on the skid loader , but when we moved the bale the smoke started coming out . We then started the garden hoses , but we were loosing ground real quickly . My wife said its time to call the fire department . We got most of the hay out by the time they got here, but what was left was smoking pretty good though. We thought maybe to turn the grinder on and they would soak it as it came out. Not a good idea from the tractor seat it looked like the Olympic torch . So plan B pitch it out and soak it good. Looks like no damage at all , but it got a good wash down.
