The old new idea spreader has never broken a bed chain (knock on wood) and I tend to load till it is running off the sides. We have had the A since I was in college, it used to be the strongest tractor on the farm, and got quite a bit of use pulling a corn picker. With the hills we have it would really talk with a full gravity bed behind it.
