Nebraska aka the boondocks | I read a couple weeks back, perhaps it was clay that posted that price of corn at 2.60 today, is way worse than the worst prices of the 80's. Here in Nebraska we have property taxes up to 110 per acre. I can tell you of leases from 6 years ago that were less than that. Common leases 7to 8 years ago were 160. I don't know of an equivalent situation except the Great Depression, where taxes were such a burden here. I am not that old btw. What I find more depressing than humorous is look at the actual carries in the 80s and the use ratio of corn and look at today, and yet we are talking about prices going to those levels in actual terms and adjusted for inflation, a total dumpster fire... As for sub 3 corn, in the fall of 14 we got to 2.87 cash, that must not count. |
