For me, the decision for our operation, which is COC mostly, versatility was the most desirable feature. A coulter only machine works great in the spring. Also can be used to freshen fall strips, if need be. Doesn't plug much, but can in certain conditions, but for the most part can Handle trash much better. That's important to me. Can go around 20% faster ground speed. This extra ground speed will use up quite a bit of the lower horsepower requirements vs. a shank machine, I.E. The tractor needed to pull 12 shanks at 6 mph is going to know it when running at 8mph with pluribus units.
