I'll disagree with this. As other response indicates, COP is not a helpful tool if market is lower than COP. Personally, I think COP is an almost useless number when it comes to deciding when to sell grain once you have it in the bin. COP is very helpful for predicting profitability, cash flow reasons, deciding what crops to grow etc. But using it to determine when to sell grain is not helpful IMO.
Once we have the grain in storage, we are trying to maximize the value of it with an acceptable amount of risk and with a keen eye on cash flow. |
