Subject: RE: Who knows something about NAP coverage from the FSA?

Glenwood, Mn
We used to carry Nap on our grapes. Had what we thought was a valid claim and was denied for what I consider a clerical error.

Rule is claim has to filed within 15 days of loss event. We had winter damage we reported when doing bud counts mid spring.

Damage actually happened in mid winter but not noticeable until spring. You really don't know what you have until things bud out. The claim went to the state level and still denied. I need to notify the county office and file a form for each weather event you feel will be causing yield loss. To cold, too much rain, too little rain. Each event is considered a "qualifying event" and needs to be recorded to prove cumulative losses. Seriously? It's not just as simple as harvest your crop and report yield. Your yield loss must carry a recorded event pattern to prove the loss.

They still want us to participate in the program but I don't see it working out. The price is cheap enough but if it never pays any price is too much.

They still want us to report acres and yield though.

This is just my experience. Veggies may be different than fruits.
