About to move cows to another pasture by the river. Need to get them some water, fenced them off the river because they'll cross it. What 12 volt pump would work well off solar panel, battery, charge controller? 2 gpm would be more than enough. Would a sureflow or other brand diaphragm pump last long running 4-8 hours a day? Diaghram pump would be nice that I can mount it 10' or so above water level, hide it and the hoses so river traffic less likely to steal it.


I know you said you're worried about theft, so maybe this wouldn't work, but these look interesting:

Basically, it uses the river's current to pump water. That company also has nose pumps for cattle which may be worth looking into too.
