I like the Ruger Mark III's. They can be quite accurate out to 50-60 yards, with a red dot scope. At 60 yards the red dot covers a 6" circle, though, at least on the scope I have.
I think a Lucite light grabbing, colored open site makes the gun easier to handle, and more accurate than the standard open site. A good trigger job helps a lot with accuracy, as well.
