south texas | This ground is heavy clay. It cracks so bad i have dropped 3ft survey stakes down cracks and lost them. Once a small crack begins the high winds and heat pull moisture from deep to make it dry faster. Keeping cracks closed is very important. We cultivate crops when its dry to keep cracks closed. Very little top soil. A 9 shank ripper at 12" deep needs 400hp to do 5mph on a good day. Been down to 3mph. | |
