Ripley, Ontario Canada | Well the 30 pounds may well explain the limited size of the appetite. If the calf is that small, everything inside will be smaller too, and it will get full faster.
If it is up, running around with it's ears up, you are likely ok, just keep it clean, dry and warm. It likely will have lower immunity to bugs than your other calves that got a good start, so likely best to keep it away from the other calves till it is a month old, keep it well bedded so it stays clean, and don't bring a scour bug from your other calves, I would feed it first thing to the barn, and clean clothes (boots and coveralls at least) when you come, you don't want the little guy to die now. | |
