DeKalb, IL | Photos replaced iPhoto an update or two ago, so what works on my system may or may not work on yours (I never tried exporting from iPhoto). My current OS is 10.11.3.
Open the program and select the photo file. Under the File menu, click on Export. A window should then open allowing you to select the type of file you wish to export. Click on Export and you get a window allowing you to choose the destination for your export. A multi-stage operation for what would be a right-click and 'Send' in Windows, but it may offer an advantage or two, I don't know.
