NCND | Seems like beans are best right at early harvest or month or two after harvest. -80 here is what I feel I target. Never was offered this year. -90 was as good as we got and that was back in March I think. Poor yoy demand from China has hurt the basis here. We are out to -100 now I see. Typically by February bean basis gets wide as the big push for beans to pnw is over from here. I never store beans. Get them all in at harvest and if I feel a move is coming can buy them in paper. With normal basis erosion here into winter spring not worth it compared to the opportunities storing wheat with a large carry and typically improving basis as you move into winter and spring. Save my space for the easy money.
Corn not sure. Blue flint is at -43 now which is pretty decent. Corn is more like wheat the longer you hold it the better it gets I'd say. Saying that if say August or sept delivery to blue flint would offer best basis.
My opinion and going largely off memory year to year. | |
