Subject: RE: wheat producers

NW Central Ohio
...we always try (being the operative word here) to get some nitrogen on frozen wheat. I wish I could get just a smidgeon of Ammonium Nitrate...but usually Urea and Ammonium Sulfate is what we use. The sulfate gives us some help on our sandier soils...the ammonia sticks around longer than nitrate. The co-ops like to strip a little 28% on later...but I've found if you have enough ammonia on in most of our soils the later application only has about a 50-50 chance of adding enough yield to pay for itself.
