| Never quite understood variable rate N, especially before the growing season has begun.
N denitrification and leaching is variable throughout the growing season already (meaning it is weather and environment related) Why would we as farmers make 1 more variable by having variable rate N before the season even begins? Plus then you gotta mess with variable rate tips and really hope they are calibrated and you are getting the N on at the rate you think you are. Seems like a joke to me.
