Two most important things with COC is Tile and spoon fed N, in this part of ILL

On poor drained soils in this part of the country COC has switched a lot of COC acres back to CB rotation.

Preplant N as the only source of N on COC poorly drained soils, in this area since 2008, has pretty much been a recipe for disaster.

Year in and out more ways and times can apply N the better for COC. Have changed our N program, by reducing the amount of N from preplant NH3. Applying N now in 4 steps, pre plant NH3, Preplant N from DAP and Urea, N in furrow starter, and sidedress 32 and ATS.
