I went in and asked the head mech. at our local JD before buying one. I asked,"Have you ever seen any damage to any part of the tractor from chipping one with a Steinbauer chip?" No. I chipped my 1997 8200 last year. Used it maybe 250 hrs this year. Now I can pull my 13 shank 5310 anhy mach. at constant speeds up or down hills. about 5700 hrs on my tractor.
