No, I don't think you'd see the ground well enough to tell if there was a wheel dragging unless moisture conditions were just right.

We mount all our cameras on Ram mounts, then mount 1 of the Ram balls to a "95#" round magnet. Camera mount is then truly portable. Seems like the best place for ours has been between the steps also. You really need the camera to see following traffic when roading. OP didn't ask, but we've tried wireless cameras & they aren't reliable enough to give solid picture in this situation. Too far back & too much steel to go thru.
