now I know why white beans are so important to cooking. Made a ham-bean soup-used Bob's Red Mill black bean mix. I don't know anyone that makes casserole-type dishes that taste good but look so unappetizing as I do! I do the same thing with rice dishes.....use brown rice....yuk-looking! Actually I rather refer to the ham-bean as stewp.....somewhere betwixt soup & stew. Can't imagine what a split=pea or lentil recipe would look like if I made it!
