| We all tend to do whatever it takes make a buck when big bucks are available. I think the long term thinking that is generally in our nature tends to keeps us from ruining something for a short term gain (ie. ripping up waterways, tillage practices that are not suitable for the location, etc). However, I get the idea that farming in Brazil is a little more short term thinking - strike while the iron is hot would be their motto to an extent. We live in a relatively stable political climate (though there are many trying to undo that) and I get the idea that in SA things can get pretty rocky sometimes. In business it means get what you can now, because a change of leadership at the poll or at gun point could wipe out your plans. | |
