I can't say firsthand, but all the talk is that Pike Co. has been in serious decline, like much of IL. whats going on to cause the decline? Here in Iowa, the DNR got overzealous on the doe harvest, and took too long to adjust their quota's, as Farm Bureau wanted them all dead. (Less collisions, less claims) in extreme NE iowa, the doe tags were in the 4-5,000 area. Counties in southern Iowa were around 3,000,IIRC. Those harvest numbers were not sustainable, and went on for too long, resulting in very low numbers in a lot of areas. And then throw in the EHD epidemic, and it was the perfect storm to decimate the herd. Didn't mean to hijack the OP, but your comment made me wonder what is happening in Illinois. TIA |
