When we redid the kitchen/dining room, we used a shade of the wall color.....one step lighter.....for the ceilings. I love it. It may not be for everyone, but it's just such a warm, inviting look for this area. My girlfriend is absolutely the anti-white ceiling guru. She hates white ceilings, and has painted every room in her house with the ceilings being a coordinate of the wall color. It looks great, IMO.
