Not sure exactly when his dad started but it's been on TV 20-30 years in Houston.  Joel took it over after his dad died rather suddenly.  Him and his wife really stepped it up the the level they are at now.  The 'church' is the old Summit where the Rockets played basketball, with the seating like it is now, I bet that place will seat 15-20K people.  Not my style of church but to each his own.
