Subject: Twilight tour WIU Organic Research Farm - Tuesday 9/15 (lots of pics)



Our first Twilight Tour of the fall will start at 5:30 pm next Tuesday (9/15)

The farm is located 7 miles north of Sciota, IL and 4 miles west of highway 67 at the corner of 20th Ave and 20th St in SW Warren Cty.

The following photos show some of the things that we will look at on the tour. All photos were taken this afternoon.

Photo 1 - Precision planted radishes following incorporation of oat stubble

Photo 2 - Late emerging radishes that were not planted into moisture

Photo 3 - Mix of oats, peas, radish and sunflowers planted after incorporation of oat stubble (sunflowers were planted on 30" rows with corn planter, rest were drilled or are volunteer)

Photo 4 - Mix of oats, peas, radish and rapeseed planted in a prevent plant field (oats and peas large seed box, radish and rapeseed small seed box)

Photo 5 - Frost seeded red clover following oats

Photo 6 - Korean lespedeza interseeded into corn

Photo 7 - Corn in biological seed treatment experiment

Photo 8 - Sign for corn hybrid and tillage system experiment

Photo 9 - Best pumpkins on the farm

Photo 10 - Pumpkins where I cut the weeds

Photo 11 - Contrast showing pumpkins where weeds were not cut on left and no-till beans on right
