SEWI | We had a moco with fails and we didn't think it did much either....now we have a moco with steel rolls and I still don't think it does much....we have given up trying to dry bale (our stands are pure alfalfa)....gotta guy we buy hay from that dry bales everything and I can't figure how he does it....so I askes him...he cuts 16ft windows with Mac don super conditioners at 3 mph....I will never cut hay that slow so I take his word for it....other option is to mix grass in with alfalfa...I'm sure that helps
Looking back I like the nice smooth window the fails made virtually at any width....with the steel rolls it seems the edges of the windows get ragged and a little lumpy sometimes...not quite as consistent I don't think as a flail
