One of my better fixes on our 9600 was to pull the front feeder drum out and rebuild the upper and lower bump stops. The drum support arms were worn along with the stops, and feederhouse walls cracked and bulged out, allowing the drum to go either too far up or down. I reinforced the feederhouse walls and extended the stops using plow bolts instead of the factory carriage bolts to maintain clearance. Major improvement.
