North Central Illinois
Yes I know there is at least three counties over on the east side of the state that are in tough shape. I was more inquiring about producers between say Elpaso down to Decatur. Crops looked pretty good down there. More even that my area although we don't look too bad. It seems everyone is finishing too quick but at this stage it remains to be seen how big of a hit it takes on yield. My thought at the moment is it might nick test weight and kernel depth slightly but stalk quality will likely become an issue. This was the year I had hoped to harvest a lot of corn in the 19% to 24% slot but time will tell. I'm afraid stalks might get weak and we end up taking it at 22% to 26%. At least gas is cheaper than in years past.
