Subject: RE: Cover Crop Cereal Rye

NW IL, Mercer County
+1

First time I put a cereal rye cover out, I followed the corn combine with a fert cart. I ran about 3 acres short on seed and got rained out before I could come back. When it dried out I finished the 3 acres but only ended up with maybe 50% stand on that part.

Moral of the story, if you are going to broadcast, do it as close behind the combine as you can. Its not quite as important after soybean harvest but I have seen a difference there too.
