NICE !  You guys out west, wouldn't believe the quality of your lumber  .. . . . we get NOTHING like what you have, out there. I'd love to have that ceder, here. Our lumber quality is worse then your rejected stuff.

You should see the old stuff. I'd consider what you buy now, even Select Doug Fir, as pretty inferior. Local outfit is tearing down a cold storage building built in the 40's-50's. They bought it mostly for the lumber, millions of board feet of nice lumber in it, and lots of larger dimensional beams. Interestingly enough the smaller stuff is in big demand, goes overseas where it is used for decorative interior paneling, etc. Last time I was there they had a stack of 4x12's that were about 20' long, clear red fir without a warp or knot in the whole stack.
