S Illinois | From my experience planting AgReliant, Dekalb, and Pioneer, they each have there weaknesses. Pioneer does seem to have a tendency to get more leaf type diseases. Dekalb hybrids seem much more prone to get ear diseases. Ag Reliant is somewhere in the middle. Usually it comes out in a wash as to which are hurt worse by disease. Also as was previously mentioned, fertility and hybrid management also make a big difference as to how much disease is present.
On a side note, are all of these type posts made for the benefit of friends and neighbors? It would seem as if ones competitors were using inferior products that it would be good for ones own bottom line not to get them to switch. If other farms are not as profitable, they would not be able to bid as much for land or rents. Or are there other motives at work for bringing these issues up? | |
