Near-north Ontario, French River | but I thought the OP was asking what it costs the OWNER of the truck, to make the trip, as opposed to what the OWNER of the truck gets paid. I'm going to guess the OP was asking about operating costs to help in making a decision regarding whether or not to purchase his own truck vs hiring it done. The reality is that for MOST farm trucks the cost of operating the truck for the limited harvest season makes the cost/bu to haul much more expensive than hiring it done. This cost is of course offset by the convenience of being able to haul when you want, and in some cases to be able to a haul at all as during harvest hired trucks can be very difficult to get. |
