SE MN
1. 6" sample, no trash
2. Sample fields in no bigger than 20 acre sections (break it up by soil type, landscape position, other), Sample smaller fields independently.
3. Take 12 cores per sample (I like to drive an x shape in the field and sample all along the way making sure to get samples in row and out of row)
5. Label bag very conspicuously
4. Sample bags are free from the lab of your choice. Mine is Midwest Labs in Omaha. Request test S1A + zinc. with recs if you are not comfortable making them. Go to their website for submittal info.

Or press the easy button and go to your local fertilizer dealer, seed dealer, or crop consultant. Many of them can direct you in the best way to handle soil sampling locally and submit the sample for you, or just plain hire them to do it.
