That graph is for the Southern Plains (West Kansas and Texas) where virtually all cattle feeding is at commercial yards.
A high percentage of those cattle in recent years have been owned by the yards as investor feeders have been harder to find at these markets and they have to keep volume in order to keep the hotel open.  Those would be the profits and loss strictly to cattle ownership - it does not include any profit the feedlot made as a feeding enterprise.
